About Johanna
Johanna Valenzuela is Of Counsel for KDC and practices in the firm’s Columbia, South Carolina office. Her law practice is focused on complex civil litigation and False Claims Act litigation. She received her BA from the University of South Carolina in 2003 and her law degree (magna cum laude) from the University of South Carolina’s School of Law in 2010. Before becoming an attorney, Johanna served in the United States Air Force as a maintenance officer.
Johanna began her legal career as a federal law clerk to the Honorable G. Ross Anderson, Jr., and, immediately prior to joining KDC, served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney and the Deputy Chief of the Civil Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of South Carolina.
Johanna is a member of the South Carolina Bar and is admitted to practice in the South Carolina District Court, the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. She previously served on the S.C. Bar’s Board of Governors and the South Carolina Women Lawyers’ Association Board of Directors. She currently serves as the meeting coordinator for the John Belton O’Neall American Inn of Court.
Johanna is married with three children, a dog, and two cats. She enjoys visiting South Carolina’s state parks and is hoping to achieve “Ultimate Outsider” status in the near future.
